Totem Automobili, the Italian automotive outfit specializing in overhauling classic Alfa Romeos from the 1960s, was present at this week’s Geneva Motor Show, where it revealed a new work of automotive art clad in carbon fiber – the GTAmodificata.

Of all the legendary sports racing cars of the ’60s, the Alfa Romeo GTA (Gran Turismo Alleggerita or Lightened Grand Tourer in English), produced between 1965 and 1975 under numerous guises such as the Sprint GTA, GTA 1300 Junior, and GTAm, must be counted as one of the most beloved among car enthusiasts. Only about 500 GTA units were made and few survived their harsh racing careers, which is why they are now as valued as Ferraris and other icons of the same period.

No wonder these compact coupes are also the vehicles of choice for Totem Automobili’s superb restomods. The latest creation coming from the Italian outfitter is a reimagined and overhauled version of the Alfa Romeo Giulia GTAm. The inspiration is evident in the GTAmodificata’s aggressive body lines, the riveted arch flares, and the extra driving lights up front, but the similarities end here.

For starters, the Italian coachbuilder has kept the donor vehicle’s framework but replaced the original body panels with new and lightweight carbon fiber parts. Then, it also fitted the car with two-piece forged wheels made by Dymag and wrapped in Pirelli Trofeo R tires, new LED headlights, and distinctive LED taillights.

What makes the GTAmodificata stand out is the fact that the carbon-fiber body is completely exposed and boasts a unique metallic carbon finish that gives it a menacing look, accentuated by exposed rivets all over the body and a custom blue-painted front bumper. All these modifications were made with a single aim – to reduce weight and increase power. As a

As the cold crept in during the bleak end of 2020 and students emerged from online school to the release of a winter break, a trend befitting the climate and attitude of the season surfaced. The search term “dark academia aesthetic” peaked on Google as one year turned to the next, gaining traction on platforms such as TikTok, Instagram, and Tumblr. Videos informing viewers how to dress in line with the trend and blog posts listing clutter items associated with the dark academic — like old books, cigarettes, coffee, and moth-eaten cashmere sweaters — abounded. Influencers had established an online space for lovers of all things erudite, donnish, and elite.

The dark academia trend draws on the aesthetics of mid-20th century and prewar college life, with a particular focus on the conflict between academic refinement and the debauchery supplying the dark edge to the style. Although the phrase rose to prominence online as an aesthetic descriptor, dark academia has its roots in a literary genre dating back to the early 20th century. Novels such as E.M. Forster’s “Maurice” and Donna Tartt’s “The Secret History” form the aesthetic’s literary canon, texts from which its followers draw soundbites and quotes to foreground videos of dark oak libraries and photos of messy desks. By whittling these works down to just the bare bones of well-written dialogue in a quaint setting, however, many online dark academia enthusiasts are ignoring the thematic messages that underlie the genre.

In an history-and-what-it-means-for-classics-in-the-21st-century/”April 2023 article for Ekklesia Magazine about “The Secret History,” writer Tom Hilless calls aestheticization “inherently un-critical.” His point rings especially true in the case of dark academia: The aesthetic most embraces the aspects of scholastic life that the literary genre strives to rebuke. Straight-cut clothing and haughty mannerisms form motifs in Tartt’s

“When you dress with power,” Juliet Polcsa says, “it’s intoxicating.”

Perhaps that’s the appeal of the “mob wife aesthetic,” the phrase that has swiftly sunken its French-tipped claws into the internet. Type the words in TikTok’s search bar and you’ll get a seemingly endless scroll of videos offering instruction on what the look is, how to achieve it, and where it comes from. Fur jackets, black garments, stacked necklaces, animal print, long manicured nails, and voluminous updos are the most commonly advised essentials. “If you look like you’re going to a funeral,” a popular TikTok narration states, “you know you’re doing it right.” A very glamorous funeral, may we add.

As for visual examples, one woman is consistently cited: Carmela Soprano. Twenty-five years ago, the spouse of mob boss Tony Soprano, on what is now considered one of the best television series of all time, was the quintessential modern-day mob wife and now, more than two decades later, she’s trending again — this time on social media.

But before the existence of the social media ecosystem to circulate trends and iPhone apps that could track down the items needed to follow suit in just a click, there was costume designer Juliet Polcsa tasked with dressing mob wife characters on a new show called The Sopranos. And to a New Jersey mall she went.

“[Carmela Soprano] was a mob wife, but she really was a rich, suburban housewife,” Polcsa tells ET. “This was in the years of malls and that’s where you shopped, and so, I spent a lot of time in New Jersey malls looking at these rich women.”

Cache, a since-shuttered chain store, caught her eye. “Cache was a gold mine,” Polcsa says. While a lot of Carmela’s early wardrobe came from Cache, Polcsa turned to Arden

We can always count on Ellie Thumann to take a popular fashion trend and put her own fun, flirty Gen Z spin on it. The influencer, who is best known for her lifestyle, fashion and beauty YouTube channel, which has more than 2.17 million subscribers, shared her unique take on the viral mob wife aesthetic—and we’re taking notes.

The 2023 SI Swimsuit rookie, who traveled to Puerto Rico with photographer Derek Kettela for her photo shoot with the brand, is living her best life during Milan Fashion Week and certainly dressing the part. She swapped the trend’s signature oversized fur coat for a one-shoulder puffy fur sweater, and paired it with super low-rise baggy dark wash denim jeans. The 22-year-old accessorized with a small black shoulder bag, sleek black designer sunglasses and dangly gold earrings.

She opted for a fresh and dewy glam look, including a glowy base, feathered brows, rosy blush, sparkly eyeshadow and a glossy pink lip. Thumann sipped a small cup of coffee while posing in a classic Italian outdoor restaurant seating.

“imma stay right here,” the Arizona native captioned a TikTok of the look, while also sharing some high-quality digital camera pics of the glamorous, dramatic yet comfortable outfit on Instagram.

“Prettiest human ever,” Destynee Lace Galloway commented.

“thank you for sharing,” Ava Jules wrote.

“Beautiful,” Jade Brown added.

“You look slayyyyy😍,” Anastasia Korol complimented.

“Gorgeousness ✨,” Benjamin Puckey chimed.

“You in this fur is EVERYTHING,” one fan exclaimed.

“Iconic Ellie!!” another noted.

On the penultimate day of Milan Fashion Week, Vogue editors proceeded from the vroom-vroom of Ferrari to the va-va-voom of Dolce & Gabbana, feathered fetishwear at Ferragamo to wig-like wallets at Jil Sander. Capping off proceedings? Matthieu Blazy’s Bottega Veneta, which saw the creative director fill his show venue with towering, flowering cacti rendered in Murano glass – an appropriate choice, given that the autumn/winter 2024 collections in Milan have been something of a desert, celebrity-wise.

This season’s collection was centred on the notion of “honesty in materiality and silhouette”.

Filippo Fior / Gorunway.com

Yet another reason for the fashion industry to be grateful for the existence of Kate Moss, then, who slipped into the front row to take in Blazy’s latest offering and give the assembled paparazzi a sense of purpose. In the venue on Via Orobia – which was suffused with a nuclear orange glow and filled with the sound of piped-in dialogue from 1956’s Earth versus The Flying Saucers – the waif turned wellness mogul perched in an oversized peacoat and thigh-grazing leather boots that rendered trousers superfluous.

Kate has given Blazy’s Bottega Veneta the supermodel seal of approval before, of course, taking a turn on the runway for the creative director’s sophomore season at the house in a plaid shirt and loose jeans that were, in fact, printed leather, later starring in the label’s spring/summer 2023 campaign, which was conceived in collaboration with Italian architect Gaetano Pesce.

The palette was inspired by the colours of night and fire.

As it turns out, Blazy has had a lifelong obsession with Kate – admittedly, something that could be said of most designers, but is especially true of the 39-year-old. “Collecting her pictures became a hobby that became a sort of

Wax London’s design dialogue takes cues from its founding namesake city, offering a “patchwork of culture and ideas” floating through England’s capital. For Spring/Summer 2024, the label has chosen to spotlight the making of its U.K.-inspired garments, in a line titled “Come Together.”

In an accompanying campaign video, creative director Tom Holmes stealthily swipes quintessentially British homewares, like patterned blankets and cloths, from their proper places in a still house. Championing the brand’s hometown favorites, each taken item forms a part of the collection, as Holmes reworks their textiles into ready-to-wear from a dimly-lit workshop in the subsequent scenes.

Pointelle, crochet, seersucker, linen and embroidery define the lineup, which consists of expanded takes on the brand’s most popular silhouettes (thanks to consumer demand). The label’s Didot range grows with statement decorations like “Daisy,” “Ornate” and “Beach” embroidery, while ripstop jackets and sustainable suede trousers mark an evolution in Wax’s core wardrobe.

“We’ve taken a look through a nostalgic lens and drawn inspiration from the ’60s for shapes and silhouettes while reimagining our hero shapes with a fabric-first approach with appliqué, embroidery and jacquard fabrics taking center stage,” Holmes told Hypebeast. “This has culminated in a collection we feel brings a bit of fun and brightness to the way people dress.”

The brand utilizes Ikat hand-dyeing techniques to finish matching shorts and trousers, and subtle shirting enlists textural fabrics with pintuck detailing for a refined aesthetic. Wax’s best-selling suits are made in new linen colorways, including burnt copper, while jacket and short co-ords build on the imprint’s casual wares. Rounding out the range, Holmes tends to his ever-evolving accessories division, with new hats, socks and tote bags.

Wax London’s Spring/Summer 2024 collection, “Come Together,” is now available to shop on the brand’s webstore and in its retail outposts.

Jennifer Lawrence has brought corporate sleaze to Paris Fashion Week, and she can come balance my budget any day, if ya know what I mean.

To the Christian Dior womenswear show on February 27, the Oscar winner wore a gray three-piece suit with nothing under the waistcoat but a little tasteful cleavage. Lawrence took an understated approach to the aesthetic by pairing her sexy top half with something more conservative on bottom.

The menswear-inspired ensemble included an oversized blazer and tapered, pleated pants, which Lawrence wore over black tights, with pointed-toe black pumps. She layered a black overcoat on top, because Paris in February is cold. She accessorized with a pair of narrow cat-eye sunglasses, small silver hoop earrings, and a quilted black handbag.

Corporate sleaze—which turns business formal into an outfit you could wear to the club—goes by many names. On TikTok it’s sometimes labeled “office siren.” The look is also related (a cousin, maybe) to geek chic, which has been embraced by Kaia Gerber, Sydney Sweeney, and Hunter Schafer, among others, according to Vogue.

The point, no matter what you call it, is that we’re bringing sexy back to the boardroom. Dress for your next Zoom meeting accordingly.

The opinions expressed in this article are the writer’s own and do not reflect the views of Her Campus.

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at UCF chapter.

On Sunday, Feb. 4, 2024 the Grammys had everyone buzzing about the performances, snubs, wins and every other aspect of the ceremony. Personally, I watch award shows for the excitement and theatrics. I love the anticipation of the nominees, the drama of the acceptance speeches and, most importantly, the celeb looks.

Being that the Grammys don’t have a fashion category (side-eyeing HEAVILY), I will be awarding some outfits people can’t seem to get out of their heads. I will be ranking based on nothing but how much I admire it. Doing so, I’ll consider the technicality of the look, including the draping, color or fabric. I have no authorization to critique, so I’m bestowing it upon myself.

Disclaimer: I am all for dressing as you please despite how others perceive the outfit. In the end, what is most important is that these looks make the wearer happy. I am simply expressing my personal opinion regarding the outfits and what I would change.

Happy awarding!

And The Grammy for Best Outfit Changes goes to…

Miley Cyrus!

Every single look Miley Cyrus wore to the Grammys was sparkly and stunning. Of her five outfits, my favorites were the brown Gucci dress (I commend a good commando moment) and the vintage dress she wore for her “Flowers” performance. Her performance outfit, made by Bob Mackie, reminded me of something Cher would wear on her show from the 70s (Dream Wardrobe btw). And to the people that clowned her hair: W.W.D.D (What would Dolly do?)? God forbid a woman pays homage to her godmother: glamorous and humble country music
