Emmys 2024: Jennifer Coolidge commands attention in sheer black dress before continuing comeback trail with Supporting Actress win for White Lotus season two

Jennifer Coolidge was looking her best on Monday night when she scored a major, early win at the 2024 Emmy Awards on Monday.

The 62-year-old film and television star won Best Supporting Actress in a Drama Series for season two of HBO’s hit The White Lotus.

The win follows her triumph at the 2022 ceremony, though that was in the limited series category before it became clear that the show would be back for multiple additional seasons.

Her triumph also comes shortly after new cast members were announced for the upcoming third season of The White Lotus.

Jennifer sizzled on the red carpet before her win with a lovely pleated black dress.

Jennifer’s elegant ensemble featured a busty, plunging neckline decorated with black lace.

The dress had a ruffled collar and sheer sleeves, along with playful gloves.

Her skirt was decorated with golden floral designs and had multiple tightly pleated sheer layers.

The Legally Blonde actress highlighted her slimmed down figure with the dress’ black belt around her midriff.

She styled her blond locks in a retro beehive-style ‘do with delicately curled strands resting over her chest.

Jennifer had the crowd on its feet as she won one of the evening’s early awards for Best Supporting Actress in a drama — though The White Lotus is more accurately described as a dramedy.

She was greeted by presenters Michael Imperioli and Lorraine Bracco, who paid tribute to The Sopranos — and their late costar James Gandolfini — to mark the HBO classic’s 25th anniversary.

Jennifer first joked that she got the ‘hook’ last year for talking too long before thanking White Lotus creator, writer and director Mike White.

She also joked that he had told her her character was ‘definitely dead,’ so that seemingly marks the end of her tenure on the show after season two.

‘I want to thank all of the evil gays,’ the actress joked, referring to the group of men who conspire against her in the second season.

The 75th Emmy Awards took place at the Peacock Theater in downtown Los Angeles.

The strike-delayed ceremony gathered Hollywood’s biggest stars as they celebrated the best of primetime television over the year of 2023.

Comedian and Black-ish star Anthony Anderson — who has been publicly accused of sexual assault multiple times between 2004 and 2018 — made his debut as the host alongside an all-Black executive producer team for the first time in Emmy history.

Jason Bateman, Quinta Brunson, Stephen Colbert, Jon Cryer, Jodie Foster, Jon Hamm, Ken Jeong and Joel McHale were among the stars announced to take the stage on Monday.

And the nominees included Pedro Pascal, Hannah Waddingham, Keri Russell, Jeff Bridges, Kevin Hart, Elisabeth Moss, Kieran Culkin and Bob Odenkirk.

The awards ceremony normally occurs in September but was delayed because writers and actors were on strike at the time last year.

Due to the industry strikes, the Emmys were postponed to 2024 on the Martin Luther King Jr. Day holiday in the United States and arrives in the heels of the Golden Globes.

As it did at the Globes — which celebrated 2023’s top films and television shows on January 7 — Succession dominated most categories.
