Pooja Hegde in an ivory lehenga is proof that the vanilla girl aesthetic has reached Indian wear too

Since minimalistic ensembles err on the vanilla side, giving rise to the trend it has stuck with Western wear up until recently. Pooja Hedge is proving that the vanilla girl aesthetic has reached Indian wear too. There’s something to be said about making a quiet statement with traditional clothing. Be it a low-key silhouette or a pared-down shade, you don’t need to wear yards of rich textile, pop palettes or over-the-top embellishments to get noticed. Comb through Pooja Hedge’s recent choice, a gorgeous ivory lehenga by Devnaagri, for proof. Ahead, designer Kavita Jain spills the beans on this exquisite look.

Pooja Hegde reached her It-girl of minimalism status with this Devnaagri look. “The beautiful ivory lehenga is crafted using a lightweight silk Chanderi base and is highlighted with dori embroidery in a self ivory tone. The motifs, adorning the border of the lehenga, are intricately embroidered to inject elegance with subtlety. We have added tassels in ivory champagne and silver to add to the elegance of the lehenga. With a sensual open back, the blouse features an elegant silhouette on a cotton silk satin base. It is intricately embroidered with ivory dori and silver patra work. The artistry lies in bringing together the individual technique into a simple and cohesive whole on this gorgeous blouse’s flattering silhouette. Her look is rounded off with a sheer self-embroidered dupatta that can be worn in a cape stole style for fluid movement and comfort,” shares Kavita Jain.

When dressing up, Pooja Hegde aims to strike a balance with a high-low approach. And a far cry from her minimal lehenga was Hegde’s choice of ornate jewellery. She complemented her look with stellar pieces from Razwada Jewels. “Pooja elevated this look with a polki choker and bracelet from our heritage collection that took months for completion. The choker is an eye-catching piece, encrusted with large polkis and accentuated with emerald and pearl drops. The kada-style bracelet is also infused with emeralds for some colour. Polkis are the purest forms of unpolished diamonds, making them rare and expensive. Polki jewellery exudes old-world charm and that’s what makes polki a must-have in every closet. It stands out for its timelessness, but you can just as easily style a polki piece with contemporary wear such a black cocktail gown or blazer,” reveals Jitendra Sirohiya, managing director, Razwada Jewels.

A minimal lehenga like Pooja Hegde’s Devnaagri look with a side serving of OTT jewellery transcends trends and seasons. From a daytime ceremony to a soirée, you can wear it for multiple occasions multiple times. We know where you can buy the exact same outfit with matching accessories. Check out our edit, below.
